Dress Code

FAQs

Which grades follow this dress code?
All students in grades TK–12 will follow this dress code.

Is there flexibility in chino fabric types?
Yes!

Elementary students may wear cotton shorts or skirts, provided they meet the length and color requirements.
Example:

Middle and high school students may wear cotton twill or polyester active performance chino (flat-front with pockets), as long as they meet color and length requirements.
Example:

Can students wear printed t-shirts (e.g., youth group, college teams)?
Not on typical days. These shirts may be allowed on designated special days throughout the year. You’ll be notified in advance.

When can middle school students wear house shirts?
House shirts are typically worn on Tuesdays. Other house days will be announced by house leaders.

Does MH spirit wear have to be purchased through the school?
No. Any Mars Hill–branded clothing is perfectly fine!

Do solid color items have to be a specific color?
No. Any solid color is acceptable. Dress shirts and dresses may also include any color or pattern.

Are small logos or insignias (like those on a polo) allowed?
Yes, small insignias on the left chest are acceptable.

Why are striped polos not allowed if solid ones are?
That’s a great question! To keep the dress code simple and easily enforceable, we’ve limited non-MHBS items to solid colors.
