We are pleased to welcome Jon Berry to the middle and high school teaching team! Jon has been teaching for over 17 years, and he truly enjoys helping students discover that history and social studies can be engaging and meaningful. Jon received his Master’s in Education from Harding University and a Bachelor’s in History and Political Science from UNA. When he’s not in the classroom, you’ll likely find him on the basketball court with Panther Boys Basketball. Jon says that some of his most rewarding moments happen when seeing students grow not just as athletes, but also in their walk in Christian faith. “I live in Florence with my wife, Jen. I enjoy the outdoors, all things related to history and flags, and spending time with my grandsons, Jaxson and Carson. I’m excited to be part of this community and look forward to meeting students, parents, and fellow teachers. I’m ready to contribute to making this a great year for everyone! Go, Panthers!”

We are pleased to welcome Emily Hinton as the 5th grade Reading/ELA teacher for the 2025-2026 school year! Emily was born and raised here in Florence, AL. After graduating from Bradshaw High School, she attended the University of North Alabama where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to obtain her Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. Emily has been teaching in the Florence City Schools district for 16 years where she taught 1st grade, Kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. She comes from a family of educators, and considers teaching her calling and passion! “My husband and I, along with our 3 children, worship at Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. Our children have attended Mars Hill Bible School since baby care! I couldn’t be more excited that God opened this door for me, and we are so thankful to be part of the Mars Hill family. I pray I can be a blessing to the 5th grade Panthers!”

Senior Spotlight: Cannon Pigg has been a Panther since kindergarten. As his parting gift, the faculty lovingly selected DEPENDABLE as Cannon's representative character trait. He has been involved in basketball and football. "Mars Hill has been like another family to me," Cannon says. "The people and environment are extraordinary, and it's a place that will push you to be the best you can be." His favorite memories are of winning state championships. Cannon is enrolled and moved in at Samford University, where he received a football scholarship. #alwaysapanther

Senior Spotlight: Eli Pounders has been a Panther since 11th grade. As his parting gift, the faculty lovingly selected HELPFUL as Eli's representative character trait. He has been involved in basketball, soccer, LEAD Team, National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club, Fellaship, Student Council, Ambassadors, Preachers Club, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, and Elementary Drop Off. "Mars Hill is truly a special place where love rules the school," Eli says. "It's amazing to be able to have Bible and chapel every single day. Coming from a school where we didn’t have the privilege of doing these things, being able to experience them with such amazing people has been great!" He has the following advice for current students: “The staff and teachers are looking out for what is best for you and your growth in every aspect. Even though at times it might not feel like it in the moment, their correction or instruction is only to help guide you.” His favorite memories are of winning a basketball state championship and singing in the dungeon at Life Retreat. Eli will attend Freed-Hardeman University on a basketball scholarship with plans to double major in Bible and communications. #alwaysapanther

Senior Spotlight: McKinley Morris has been a Panther since preschool. As her parting gift, the faculty lovingly selected ENTHUSIASTIC as McKinley's representative character trait. She has been involved in track and field, debate team, show choir, Larimore Service League, Girls of Grace, and Daughters of the King. "Daily chapel and Bible classes are the best part of Mars Hill," she says. "I'm thankful for teachers who invested in us and prepared us for the next step in life." Her favorite memories are from Celebration Show Choir. McKinley will attend Florida College on a Founders Scholar award with plans to major in nursing. #alwaysapanther

Senior Spotlight: Meredith Hubbard has been a Panther since eighth grade. As her parting gift, the faculty lovingly selected COURTEOUS as Meredith's representative character trait. She has been involved in soccer, show choir, chorus, ensemble, band, Daughters of the King, and Girls of Grace. "The best part of the Mars Hill experience is bringing the Bible into the classroom," she says. "Not only do we have Bible class and chapel every day, but we also get the opportunity to talk about the Bible throughout history and other classes." She wants others to know that Mars Hill is a special place with kind and welcoming students and teachers. Meredith will attend Harding University on academic scholarships with plans to major in Exercise Science. #alwaysapanther
