Position Opening: Preschool Teacher
2026–2027 School Year
Mars Hill Bible School is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Preschool Teacher. This full-time staff role is designed for an individual who is passionate about Christian education and committed to supporting young learners in their growth, spiritual development, and personal responsibility.
The Preschool Teacher will provide a safe learning environment and multiple opportunities for students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially while learning how to use their knowledge and skills to solve problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of new information.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for needs or problems of the children as individuals or as a group.
- Pay close attention to children while feeding/eating, giving small portions of food at a time to help prevent choking
- Get on the floor or at the child’s level and play with children. Playtime is not the time to rest, but time to interact with the children.
- Sing, read books and do crafts with the children. Make plans to engage with children as much as possible.
- Keep classrooms, storage areas and bathroom neat and clean. All toys, shelving, cribs/cots and all equipment should be sanitized a minimum of once per week and more if needed.
- Sweep floors after snack and meals and mop if necessary.
- Classrooms should be neat and attractive for children. Age appropriate toys should be available to the children at all times for free play and discovery.
- Diapers should be checked on a regular schedule and changed as needed. Staff members should wash hands before and after diapering each child even though gloves are used. Clean gloves should be used for each diaper change.
- Children under 12 months of age should be placed in their cribs, on their backs, for napping. Infants should not be left in bouncy seats, swings, or car seats for napping.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and their families and share information about the child’s day at school. Parents should be greeted each day. Communication should be kept positive unless a need arises to discuss any areas of concern. Discuss any concerns with a Director before discussing with the parent.
- Communicate with the afternoon staff about events of the day.
- Mark attendance daily.
- Have a sub folder visible in the classroom that must include a detailed schedule, meal plan, sleep patterns and specific directions for each child. Be sure to include allergies or special instructions for each child. This helps when a sub is needed that may have never worked in your room before.
- Label each child’s cubby/crib or cot with their name. Check behind parents to make sure all bottles/cups are labeled with the child’s first and last name when they are brought in early in the mornings.
- Maintain daily reports of all bottles/snacks/feedings/diaper changes and naps and share with parents and also your afternoon worker.
- Pictures of children are not to be posted on any social media outlet.
- Maintain confidentiality about any custodial information or private information that may be shared with you as the child’s teacher.
- Complete the 12 hours per year of DHR required training.and provide certificates to your Director. Director will assist you with getting set up for on-line training.
- Read the DHR handbook and sign that you have completed reading it.
- Any other duty that you are asked by your supervisors to perform for the betterment of the preschool /babycare program.
Professional Expectations
- Appear for work prepared and on time, except in excused cases.
- Report your absences to your supervisor, and only miss your allotted absences (as far as your health allows).
- In the case of absence, ensure that all necessary duties are fulfilled and appropriate lesson plans are prepared.
- Dress professionally and appropriately.
- Never speak disparagingly of any parent, student, faculty member, staff member, or Mars Hill Bible School in the presence of a student or on social media.

Preschool
MHBS is seeking applications for full-time and part-time preschool positions beginning in the summer session. No nights or weekends are required. This is a perfect opportunity for college students or retirees! Applicants must be at least 18 years old, be responsible, display a joyful Christian attitude, and not have physical limitations that would prevent them from lifting babies and toddlers. Applicants must pass all background check requirements.
