Elementary Opening

Mars Hill Bible School has openings for the 2024-25 school year starting in August. MHBS is seeking to add motivated faculty members who believe in our mission and will encourage each student to practice genuine discipleship, sharpen their skills, and grow hearts for service. Applications will be accepted until Monday, April 29. 

MHBS is currently seeking qualified applicants for the following positions:

Position: Elementary Teacher

A valid Alabama teaching certificate is required.

Job Description, Duties, and Expectations

As a Christian representative of the school:

  • Live a life consistent with Christian ideals so that the Spirit of Christ is evident in how you talk and how you live.
  • Demonstrate exceptional integrity, moral character, and work ethic.
  • Support the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Mars Hill Bible School.
  • Attend Chapel regularly.
  • Appear for work prepared and on-time, except in excused cases.
  • Report your absences to your supervisor, and only miss your allotted absences (as far as your health allows).
  • In the case of absence, ensure that all necessary duties are fulfilled and appropriate lesson plans are prepared.
  • Dress professionally and appropriately.
  • Never speak disparagingly of any parent, student, faculty member, staff member, or Mars Hill Bible School in the presence of a student or on social media.
  • Work cooperatively with your supervisors, and respect their position of authority. Work for them as you would work for Christ.
  • Work cooperatively with those under your position of authority, and respect your role as a steward of lives whom God has placed in your trust.
  • Have lesson plans prepared at least 1 week in advance, and ensure your supervisor has approved all material before teaching or handing them to students.
  • Attend at least 3 school sponsored professional development opportunities per school year (not including in-service in August and January).


In this capacity:

  • Exhibit an enthusiastic personality and interpersonal skills, which will allow positive interaction with all stakeholders.
  • Respect each individual's dignity and worth and help students value their own identities and appreciate differences in others.
  • Cultivate relationships with students and parents that are built on a mutual foundation of trust and respect. 
  • Have empathy for all students because we all have struggles.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans linked to the standards. Plans should reflect STEM concepts when appropriate. 
  • Differentiate instruction to challenge all students.
  • Be flexible, pause and take advantage of teachable moments.
  • Maintain an organized environment that is student-centered and conducive to learning.
  • Keep students actively engaged in the learning process. 
  • Adopt a behavior plan, then practice the rules, procedures, and expectations so that students understand your expectations, and then follow the plan holding students accountable for their actions throughout the year. 
  • Monitor students closely at all times. Students are not to be left unattended.
  • Maintain sufficient clock hours to keep your certification current.
    Submit behavioral, academic, or emotional health referrals to the principal. 
  • Reflect and self-assess your own performance to make necessary improvements. 
  • Communicate often in multiple ways in order to keep parents informed of student progress and behavior. 
  • Encourage parents to be partners in the education process. 
  • Be willing to lead and mentor new teachers. 
  • Be a good steward of school money and supplies.
