For more than 150 years, Mars Hill Bible School has equipped students to grow spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. From the classroom to the ball field, from chapel services to service opportunities, our students engage in formative experiences that help them develop strong character, deep faith, and a heart for serving others. Every child is encouraged to use their God-given talents to glorify Him and to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Daily Bible classes, dedicated faculty mentors, and a rich variety of extracurricular programs—including athletics, fine arts, service clubs, and leadership opportunities—create a learning environment where students can thrive.

MHBS maintains a long history of academic excellence. Since its reopening in 1947, the school has been continuously accredited by the Alabama State Department of Education. In 1971, Mars Hill earned accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (now Cognia), and in recent years became the first private school in Alabama—and the first K–12 school in the Shoals—to achieve Cognia STEM certification. These recognitions reflect our commitment to preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and habits needed for success in an ever-changing world.

Mars Hill Bible School is blessed by a rich heritage within the churches of Christ. Our leadership and faculty are active members of local congregations, and our school continues to be supported by churches, families, and individuals who share our commitment to Christ-centered education. At the same time, we warmly welcome families from many backgrounds who desire a school community grounded in God’s Word and dedicated to academic excellence.

Our graduates consistently excel beyond the walls of Mars Hill. More than 95% pursue post-secondary education, and MHBS ACT scores remain competitive among schools across Alabama. Alumni have gone on to earn advanced degrees in fields such as medicine, pharmacy, engineering, education, ministry, and law—continuing a legacy of scholarship and service that reflects the mission of our school.

While teaching methods and technologies have evolved, our core mission remains unchanged. As T. B. Larimore expressed more than a century ago, “We loved one another, and love ruled the school.” At MHBS, that spirit still defines who we are. We remain devoted to nurturing students in a Christ-centered environment where they are known, encouraged, challenged, and loved.
