LADY PANTHERS FINISH 4th IN STATE (UPDATED 5/9/2011)

The Lady Panthers finished 4th in the 2011 state finals. The #1 doubles team (Jessie Bratcher and Lindsey Butler) won their first round of doubles and lost to the eventual state winners. The #2 doubles team (Sara Bayles and Hensley Pierce) won their first round of doubles. The #3 doubles team (Laura Beth Humphries and Marit Winborn) made it to the semi-final round. In singles play, #2 singles Lindsey Butler was runner –up at the #2 position; #3 singles Hensley Pierce made it to the semi-final round; and #6 singles Laura Beth Humphries made it to the semi-final round and lost to the eventual state winner at the #6 spot. The Lady Panthers team score was 26 for a fourth place finish and only a single point away from the 3rd place spot at 27.

MHBS will host a Jr. Tennis Camp for boys and girls (ages 6-12) May 23-26 from 3:15 until 5:30. The cost is $35 with $5 going to help tornado victims.  A t-shirt will be provided.

 

LADY PANTHERS WIN SECTIONAL FINALS; HEAD TO STATE FINALS (UPDATED 4/20/2011)

The Lady Panthers took their first step toward their ultimate goal of a state championship by breezing through the Sectional competition, winning all six singles titles and two of three doubles titles.

Jessie Bratcher won the sectional title in the number one singles with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Shoals Christian. Lindsey Butler won the number two singles in a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Shoals Christian. In the number three singles, Hensley Pierce won a 6-0, 6-2 decision over her opponent from Lexington. Sara Bayles defeated Shoals Christian 6-2, 6-2 in the number four singles, while Sloan Myrick won at number five over LCHS by a 7-6, 7-5 score and Laura Beth Humphries claimed the number six singles over LCHS, 6-0, 6-1. The number one doubles of Jessie Bratcher and Lindsey Butler and the number three doubles team of Marit Winborn and Laura Beth Humphries both won.
