GRADES 5-8 OBSERVE 'LIFE DAY' ON APRIL 13; ANNUAL THEME ASKS STUDENTS TO 'PUT YOURSELF IN THE PICTURE!'
Life Day 2010 occurred at Camp Westmoreland on Tuesday, April 13. Eli Hooper of Sacramento, CA was the guest speaker for the day.
In addition to the lessons by Eli Hooper, faculty members shared brief devotional thoughts with students (Mrs. Ashley Rutledge and Mrs. Nina Sherrod for the girls and Mr. Mike Mitchell and Mr. Jay Mitchell for the boys), senior high students led devotionals and middle school students divided into groups for prayer sessions, bible reading, singing sessions and devotionals.
One experience that students will remember came during the early morning session in the camp's amphitheater when a rat snake quickly exited the area. One faculty member observed, "It must have been one of Satan's emissaries because the devotional made it nervous!"
THE LIFE DAY TRADITION
Middle school students have observed annual Life Day activities at MHBS for some 20 years. The full day of spiritual activities traditionally occurs in late spring.
