GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

Mrs. Molly Brown serves as the 9-12 counselor for MHBS. She works both as an individual counselor for student needs and as the college counselor. Mrs. Brown has been instrumental in assisting students apply for, and receive, approximately $1.5 million per year in scholarship assistance. Traditionally, 70 percent of the members of the senior class will earn some type of college scholarships. In addition to her counseling job, Mrs. Brown also serves as the adviser for the National Honor Society. Mrs. Nancy Barfield serves as the counselor for students in K4-grade 8. She works with the Duke Talent Search for students in grades 4-5 and 7-8 and the Joseph Baldwin Academy for Imminent Young Scholars. She also works with the character education program for grades K4-4. Both Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Barfield earned their Masters' degrees in counseling from the University of North Alabama.
