2011-2012 PANTHER GOLF TEAM OFF TO A WINNING START (UPDATED 3/14/2012)

• Led by Jonathan Marks (42), John Moody (43.2) and Paden Henderson (46.4), the Panther linksters earned victories in its first two matches of the year. The squad defeated Lexington and Florence in the early matches. Coach Ronnie Pannell's team hopes to improve on last season's top four finish in the state.

 

GOLFERS CLAIM TOP FOUR FINISH

The young Panther golf team returned to the AHSAA state tournament in 2010 thanks to the play of underclassmen and the squad's senior leaders Josh Abrams and Stephen Ambrose. Stephen shot a squad best 78 and freshman Paden Henderson carded an 80 in the area to lead Coach David Willingham's linksters to their second consecutive appearance in the state tournament. The Panthers finished second in both the area and the substate. At the state meet at Hampton Cove in Huntsville, senior Stephen Ambrose shot 81-79 (160) to claim seventh place overall. He was followed by Juddy Carlton's 87-83 (170). Jonathan Marks rebounded from a 97 in horrible weather on Monday to shoot a squad best 78 on Tuesday (175) and Josh Abrams shot 88-88 (176) to complete the Panther scoring.
