Mars Hill Bible School
FORENSICS
Mars Hill Forensics is one of the oldest school activities and dates back to the late 1940s. Students earn scores of honors and awards every year as they compete throughout the nation. MH has been a member of the National Forensic League since 1971.

MHBS DEBATER ELECTED GOV. OF 2011 ALABAMA GIRL'S STATE

    Senior Maggie McCoy was elected Governor of Alabama Girl's State for 2011. Maggie first earned the nomination of her party and then won the general election on June 9, 2011.

 

MHBS DEBATER NATIONAL MERIT SEMI-FINALIST

    Senior Andrew Pyle has earned Semi-Finalist status in the National Merit Scholarship competition. Andrew also scored a 35 on his ACT!

2011 NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE DISTRICT/NFL NATIONALS

  • The public forum debate team of Grace Nix and Andrew Pyle and original orator John Adams earned the right to represent Alabama at the National Forensic League National Tournament in Dallas in June. Andrew and Grace compiled a 7-5 mark and barely missed making the elimination rounds.  The duo interpretation team of Will Brown and Daniel Robertson finished 3rd in the competition and missed qualifying by a single rank. Will also finished 4th in dramatic interpretation.

            AWARD WINNERS AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY

            Public Forum debaters participated in the annual competition at Georgetown University in Washington. Maggie McCoy and Andrew Pyle finished second in the competition with the sophomore team of Erin Ross and Allison Young finishing in a tie for 5th. A second sophomore team of Emma Melson and Cheyanne Golden were 4-2.

  • Molly Moore and Lucas Rhoden won the 2010 novice state championship in Public Forum Debate the second weekend in April. Maggie McCoy also earned the state championship in impromptu speaking. The tournament was held in Montgomery. Molly and Lucas defeated a team from Vestavia Hills HS in the semi-final round and a team from Spain Park HS in the finals.
