2006-2007 RESULTS:
Two Academic All-Americans (Kelsey Sherrod and Wesley Arnold).
Kelsey Sherrod is the 2007 Alabama State Champion in Original Oratory, John
McWilliams and Adam Snodgrass finished third in the state in Duo
Interpretation, Rachel Berry and Cassidy White finished in the top 10 in
novice public forum debating. Further congratulations to Kelsey Sherrod. She
was named the state winner in the VFW "Voice of Democracy" Oratorical
Contest. MHBS orators have won state titles and one third-place finish over
the past four years.
DEBATE/FORENSICS ALUMNI NEWS:
Melody Ford is
a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Dean Tays is a budget analyst for
the state of Tennessee. John Webb also works for the state of Tennessee.
Amber Barfield is a conservator for the Tennessee State Archives. Rebekah Webb
is competing her masters degree in nutrition at the University of Memphis.
Leslie Newton earned her master`s degree in business/accounting at Auburn.
Craig Ramsay earned his MA in Civil Engineering from Ga.
Tech and now works in Atlanta. Laura Beth Mitchell earned her degree
in business/finance at UA and has been hired as a pharmaceutical rep by
Pfizer--quite an honor for someone just out of college. Andy Gann
received his degree in Bible/Missions from Harding. He is currently doing mission
work and working on his Masters. Judith Waggoner Thompson has been
named Teacher of the Year in the Rutherford County TN Schools. Tamara Mueller
is in the Master`s program for health care administration at UAB.
Nathan Guy completed his graduate work at Oxford University in London
and is now on the faculty at Harding University in Searcy. Dusty Farned
earned his bachelor`s degree from Harvard and hopes to enter UA Law
School. Alan Baggett, Michael Hovater and Helen Ly are in Med School at UAB.
Clint South is completing his doctorate in chemistry at Georgia Tech. Brooke
Murphy earned her masters degree in legislative affairs from George Washington
University and is in the doctoral program at the National University of
Ireland at Galway. Susan Scott VanDyke earned her law degree from the
University of Alabama. Kim Ramsey Plunk earned her Master of Accounting degree from
Belmont University. Andy Newton earned his bachelors degree from Auburn.
April Bates Brasheer is finishing her doctorate in economics and has
been named to the faculty at Freed-Hardeman University. Lora Barfield earned
her Master`s degree in Tax Accounting from UA and works for Warren-Averitt in
