BASEBALL EARNS STATE TITLE
Win number 43 of the season gave the Panthers the 2011-2012 State Baseball Title (See the baseball section for more information).
ADMINISRATIVE POSITION OPEN
Mars Hill Bible School is accepting applicants for the position of elementary principal. Anyone interested in applying should contact Mr. Dexter Rutherford in the high school office at 256-767-1203 ext. 3 to arrange for an appointment.
TEACHER EARNS WHNT HONOR
Congratulations to first grade teacher, Mrs. Crystal Delano. She earned the "Tools for Teachers" Award from WHNT-TV in Huntsville and was presented $319 to use for classroom supplies. The presentation was on the WHNT nightly newscast on May 2.
DEBATERS EARN NFL TITLE
Congratulations to Maggie McCoy and Nick Walton for being named the top public forum debate team in the state. They will debate at the national tournament in Indianapolis in June.
DUKE TALENT STATE HONORS
Congratulations to ETHAN KEMP and KAYLEY O'KELLEY for earning state honors in the annual Duke University Talent Identification Program. They were honored for their exceptional ACT scores.
GIRLS'/BOYS' STATE
Congratulations to the Girls'/Boys' State Representatives for 2012: Addie Harrison (Girls State); Grayson Brown, Harrison Chastain, Glenn Irby, Mark McWilliams, Austin Swinea, Thomas Swinea and Thomas Willingham (Boys State).
MH STUDENTS SPEAK AT LADS TO LEADERS
MH juniors, Harrison Chastain and Austin Swinea, were two of the four speakers selected to speak for the combined Sunday worship at the April 8 Conference in Nashville. They spoke before some 6,000 worshippers and did an outstanding job proclaiming God's Word! Congratulations!

A very special "THANK YOU!" to the parents and donors who have given the funds for new playground equipment for the preschool and elementary. Other donors have provided additional SmartTABLES and other technology for our students. Mars Hill is blessed by having so many wonderful parents, grandparents and friends who contribute in these ways to keep tuition as low as possible. Also, an anonymous donor has given the Media Center a $4,500 gift to use for upgtades and the purchase of new materials. THANK YOU!!!

LAUDERDALE HALL OF FAME
Congratulations to Ronnie Pannell and Dustin Wright. They were inducted into the Lauderdale County Sports Hall of Fame on March 17. Ronnie has been the Voice of the Panthers for many years, having broadcast over 1,000 games. Dustin was a double sport (baseball and basketball) leader in the early 1990s. He has the number two all-time PPG average (27.4) for Panther basketball.
GEOGRAPHY BEE WINNERS
Congratulations to the Grade 4-8 winners in the school's annual Geography Bee. They are John Medley (4), Daniel Morris (4), Macy Wallace (5), Nolan Binion (5), Cara Grace Berry (6), Jackson Turner (6), Lucas Anderson (7), Jacob Hennigan (7), Ariel McMannus (8) and Drake Seal (8). Drake has also qualified for state competition!
DAR, HOBY NOMINEES
Christian McGee has been named as the school's DAR award winner for the 2011-2012 school year. Sophomore Allison Young was named the school's HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership) nominee. Congratulations CHRISTIAN and ALLISON!

Congratulations to Andrew Pyle for being named one of the four National Merit Semi-Finalists from northwest Alabama in 2011! He continues Mars Hill's record of national qualifiers. Congratulations, as well, to Maggie McCoy for earning a commendation from the National Merit program!
TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE
Phase One of the 21st Century Technology Initiative is now complete. Thanks to foundation grants and gifts from other friends of the school, students and 7-12 faculty are now using laptop computers in selected classes during the 2011-2012 school term. Sixty Macbooks are available for use in classrooms. Faculty training on incorporating Podcasts and other teaching methods that integrate technology into the classrooms will continue.

Christian McGee was selected to play with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra for their annual spring concert. Christian is also the 2011 Lauderdale County DAR winner. Congratulations, Christian!
